This Privacy Policy explains how Vimini ("Vimini", "we", "us") collects, uses, shares, stores, and protects personal data when you use the Vimini mobile application and related services (the "Service").

If you do not agree with this Privacy Policy, please do not use the Service.

2) Data We Collect

We collect and process the following categories of personal data, depending on how you use Vimini.

Account and Profile Data

When you create or manage an account, we may process account and profile data.

  • name and surname;
  • username;
  • email address;
  • password, stored in protected hashed form;
  • phone number, if you choose to provide it;
  • date of birth, if you choose to provide it;
  • profile photo or avatar;
  • language, privacy settings, onboarding status, terms acceptance, and other account preferences;
  • review preferences, rating settings, diet preferences, favourite tags, and favourite locations.

Login Data

If you sign in using a third-party authentication service, we process the information needed to authenticate you and create or link your Vimini account. We do not store social provider access tokens on our servers.

Reviews, Places, and Social Activity

When you use Vimini's restaurant, review, list, collection, and social features, we may process related content and activity.

  • reviews you create, including notes, ratings, scores, price information, date/time of visit, tags, dishes, and uploaded photos;
  • restaurants and places you save, review, search for, or add, including place names, addresses, coordinates, phone numbers, websites, ratings, and images;
  • custom lists and collections, saved places, favourites, list and collection notes, and list and collection collaborators;
  • likes, comments, tags, mentions, and other interactions with reviews;
  • follow relationships, friend requests, blocked users, and profile visibility choices;
  • gamification activity, such as points, badges, titles, progress counters, and leaderboards.

Messages, Groups, Surveys, and Recommendations

If you use messaging, groups, surveys, or recommendation features, we may process the data needed to provide those features.

  • conversations, participants, roles, read/mute state, join/leave timestamps, and related metadata;
  • message content and message metadata;
  • messages that reference a review, place, list, collection, or survey;
  • group names, members, avatars, shared reviews, and group review participation;
  • surveys you create or vote on, including survey title, options, votes, deadlines, share links/codes, and related conversation data;
  • recommendation requests and replies, including city/place area, radius, deadline, moment of day, title, description, tags, comments, mentions, and attached places or reviews.

Contacts

With your permission, Vimini can access phone numbers from your device contacts to help you find people you may know who already use Vimini.

We use this data only to compare your contacts with existing Vimini users. We do not store your address book or contact phone numbers on our servers after the matching request. If you want updated matches, you need to sync contacts again.

Location and Map-Related Data

With your permission, Vimini may access your approximate or precise device location to show nearby restaurants, map views, and location-based search results. Location consent is requested through the standard iOS and Android system permission prompts.

If you choose to enable always-on or background location access, Vimini may also process location updates while the app is not actively open on screen, only for features that require ongoing location availability. Always-on or background location is not enabled by default and must be actively allowed by you in your device location settings.

We may also process city or area information related to searches, reviews, recommendations, and favourite locations.

Photos and Photo Metadata

If you select or upload photos, we process the images you choose. When you select a photo, Vimini may read date/time metadata from the photo on your device to help pre-fill fields such as the visit date.

Feedback and Reports

If you send feedback, report content, or contact us through the app, we may process the submission and related account or app context.

We archive feedback and report data for analysis, support, safety, abuse prevention, and product improvement. We may contact you directly at the email address associated with the submission to discuss or resolve the feedback or report.

  • relevant app, screen, place, content, or diagnostic information connected to the submission.

Device, Technical, and Usage Data

We may process technical data needed to operate, secure, and improve Vimini.

Vimini also uses local storage on your device to keep you signed in, remember preferences, cache app content, support offline or faster loading, and improve the app experience.

  • authentication tokens and session information;
  • push notification identifiers and notification delivery state;
  • device type, operating system, app version, language, and similar technical information;
  • app events, feature usage, diagnostics, crash or performance information;
  • server logs, such as IP address, timestamps, request metadata, and security events;
  • content or links you choose to share into Vimini from another app.

3) How We Use Personal Data

We use personal data to provide, secure, personalize, measure, and improve the Service.

We do not sell your personal data.

  • create and manage your account;
  • provide core app features such as reviews, lists, collections, maps, search, recommendations, messaging, groups, surveys, notifications, and social features;
  • personalize your experience based on your preferences, location, friends, reviews, and app activity;
  • help you find friends and help friends find you, where you choose to use those features;
  • process feedback, reports, support requests, and safety issues;
  • send account, service, social, and notification messages;
  • improve, debug, measure, and protect the Service;
  • prevent abuse, fraud, spam, and misuse;
  • comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests.

5) How We Share Personal Data

We share personal data only where needed to provide, secure, improve, or legally operate the Service.

Restaurants and Venues

Vimini may automatically share anonymous review content or review insights with the restaurant or venue being reviewed. This sharing does not include your name, username, profile photo, contact details, or other direct account identifiers.

Service Providers

We use trusted service providers that help us operate Vimini. These providers process data on our behalf and only as needed to provide their services to Vimini.

  • hosting, storage, and infrastructure;
  • maps, place search, and geocoding;
  • authentication;
  • email, support, and feedback handling;
  • push notifications;
  • real-time communication;
  • analytics, diagnostics, performance monitoring, and product improvement.

Third-Party APIs and Data Sources

To provide search, maps, places, geocoding, authentication, notifications, analytics, diagnostics, infrastructure, and security features, Vimini integrates with third-party platforms and APIs.

Third-party processing is limited to what is needed to provide each feature. Vimini does not use this data to sell personal data. You can disable optional permissions in device settings at any time, including changing location permission from always-on or background to while-using or denied. You can request account deletion, which removes data from active systems as described in this policy.

  • account identifiers or tokens required to keep you signed in and secure sessions.

Business Transfers

If Vimini is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets, personal data may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to applicable law.

6) International Data Transfers

Our core infrastructure is hosted in Europe. Some service providers may process data outside your country where necessary to provide their services. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as contractual protections and standard data protection clauses.

7) Data Retention and Account Deletion

We keep personal data for as long as needed to provide the Service, support users, maintain security, analyze and improve the app, comply with legal obligations, and resolve disputes.

When you delete your account, we delete your personal data from active systems, including your profile, reviews, uploaded images, comments, likes, lists, collections, saved places, messages, conversations where applicable, social graph, blocks, groups and participants, notifications, device identifiers, account tokens, preferences, gamification data, and other user-linked app data.

Some limited information may remain only where required by law, for security, for dispute handling, or in backups until they are overwritten or expire according to our backup practices.

8) Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect your personal data, including encryption in transit, access controls, monitoring, and procedures to limit access to people who need it.

No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9) Your Rights and Choices

Depending on where you live, you may have rights over your personal data.

You can also control many choices directly in the app or through your device settings, including location, contacts, photos, and notifications.

EEA and UK Users

If you are in the EEA or UK, you may also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

United States Privacy Rights

If you are a resident of a US state with privacy laws that apply to Vimini, you may have rights that can include the rights listed below.

Vimini does not sell personal data. Vimini does not share personal data for cross-context behavioral advertising as those terms are defined under certain US state laws.

10) Children's Privacy

Vimini is intended for a general audience. If you are under the age required to consent to data processing in your country, you should use Vimini only with the involvement and consent of a parent or legal guardian.

If you believe a child has provided us personal data without appropriate consent, contact us and we will take appropriate action, including deletion where appropriate.

11) Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version in the app and/or on an associated website, giving due notice (including via a pop-up), and update the "Last updated" date.
